A Birmingham fundraising event has donated £7,500 to West Midlands charity the Matt Gallagher Foundation after bringing together business leaders, music lovers and supporters from across the region for a memorable evening of entertainment and fundraising.
Birmingham Rocks, held at the city’s historic Burlington Hotel, celebrated Birmingham’s rich musical heritage while raising vital funds for good causes.
The event, which attracted hundreds of guests, many embracing the rock music theme, for an evening of live entertainment, fundraising and community spirit, raised a total of £15,000. The Alzheimer’s Society also received a donation of £7,500.
Guests enjoyed Robbie Williams, George Michael and Freddie Mercury tribute performances, alongside a charity auction and Rock Bingo, helping to raise significant funds.
Former professional rugby player Matt Gallagher died earlier this year after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). In 2023 he launched the Matt Gallagher Foundation, which helps people living with the condition by offering fast support and a large network of contacts who can help in many different ways.
Jon Robinson, chairman of Birmingham Rocks and a director at Barberry, said: “Being able to donate £7,500 to the Matt Gallagher Foundation following another successful Birmingham Rocks event strikes a really positive note.
“The charity carries out fantastic work supporting young people and creating opportunities within local communities, so it is incredibly rewarding to know that the funds raised will help support its ongoing activities. The event once again demonstrated the generosity of Birmingham’s business community. We are grateful to everyone who attended, sponsored, donated and helped make the evening such a success.”
Holly-Mae Gallagher of the Matt Gallagher Foundation said: “We are extremely grateful to Birmingham Rocks and everyone who contributed to this fantastic donation. Support of this kind plays a vital role in helping us to continue our work with people living with MND, providing opportunities, encouragement and practical support where it is needed most.
“The event was a brilliant celebration of Birmingham’s music heritage and community spirit, and we are proud to have been one of the chosen beneficiaries.”
Widely recognised as the birthplace of heavy metal and home to iconic bands including Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, Birmingham provided the perfect backdrop for an event that combined the city’s musical legacy with a shared commitment to supporting worthwhile causes.
