Birmingham Rocks strikes a chord with dementia charity donation

A Birmingham event has donated £7,500 to the Alzheimer’s Society after bringing together property professionals, business leaders, music lovers and supporters for a memorable night of entertainment and fundraising.

Birmingham Rocks, held at the historic Burlington Hotel, celebrated the city’s rich musical heritage while raising vital funds for good causes. It attracted hundreds of guests, many embracing the rock music theme.

Guests enjoyed Robbie Williams, George Michael and Freddie Mercury tribute performances, alongside a charity auction and Rock Bingo, helping to raise more than £15,000. A donation of £7,500 was also awarded to the Matt Gallagher Foundation which supports people with Motor Neurone Disease.

The Alzheimer’s Society donation will support vital services for people living with dementia, as well as groundbreaking research, providing a meaningful boost to the charity’s work supporting individuals and families across the region.

Luke Selibas, Midlands Regional fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society, said: “Dementia affects thousands of families across the Midlands, so support from events like Birmingham Rocks is incredibly valuable. This fantastic donation will help us continue providing advice, support and hope to people living with dementia, while funding research to bring us closer to a cure.

“It was inspiring to see so many people come together and have such a positive impact. We are hugely grateful to everyone involved for helping us make a difference to the lives of those affected by dementia.”

Jon Robinson, chairman of St George and the City of Birmingham Ball and a director at Barberry, said: “Raising so much money for the Alzheimer’s Society is a tremendous result and reflects the generosity of Birmingham’s business community. Every year, we bring people together for a great evening, but the real success is the difference we can make for a worthwhile cause.

“Dementia has touched the lives of so many people, either directly or through family and friends, which made supporting the Alzheimer’s Society particularly meaningful. We would like to thank our sponsors, guests, donors and volunteers for helping turn a celebration of Birmingham’s musical heritage into tangible support for an important charity.”

Widely recognised as the birthplace of heavy metal and home to iconic bands including Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, Birmingham provided the perfect backdrop for an event that combined the city’s musical legacy with a shared commitment to supporting worthwhile causes.
