Barberry is celebrating being recognised as the Commercial Developer of the Year at the prestigious West Midlands Property Awards, staged by Midlands Business Insider.
We clinched the title in an exceptional year, which has seen a number of our major developments come to fruition. Turnover increased from £18.8million to £41.5million, largely due to our successful execution of business plans in key markets within the mid-box Industrial/logistics sector, student accommodation sector and strategic land.
Highlights of the year include the successful completion of Barberry 46 & 65 industrial/warehouse units in Birmingham, the delivery of our 725-bed student accommodation development in Coventry, and the sale of 107 acres of consented land.
Jason Jackson, head of real estate for Midlands at Shoosmiths LLP, presented the award to a team from Barberry at the ceremony at Birmingham’s Hilton Metropole Hotel.
Insider business editor Ian Griffin said it is the most exciting time in a generation to be involved in property in the West Midlands.
“Billions of pounds are being pumped into our region by investors from across the UK and overseas to seize a slice of the superb opportunities which will come from an expanding Metro, Coventry City of Culture 2021, the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 and HS2,” he said.
